K. Padmanabha, PhD, has specialised in art, art history and iconography. He is the author of several research papers and the Hoysala Sculptures--A Cultural Study and the co-author of Dictionary of Archae-Zoology and The Buddha--His Nirvana and Mahapari Nirvana. He took part in several achaeological explorations and excavations such as the explorations in Rayalaseema and Telengana regions, Peddavegi (West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh) and Mandoli (in Delhi). In recognition of his scholarly achievements the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, elected him as its Fellow in November, 1988 (F.R.A.S., London).

Swati Ganguly, PhD, has specialised in Chinese study and is working as a Research Scientist at Asiatic Society, Calcutta, India.

Yuvraj Krishan, M.A. L.L.B, is a former civil servant retiring in 1980 as Deputy comptroller & Auditor General of India; a member of the- National Consumer Disputes Commission of India from 1988 to 1995. A scholar of Indology, Indian History, Religion, Philosophy and Art. He has published nearly 150 research papers and four books, the latest being Ganesa: Unravelling an Enigma. At present he is workitig on a book on the partition of India.

Bimalendra Kumar, PhD, is the senior lecturer at the department of Pali and Buddhist studies, Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi, and is the author of Theory of Relation in Buddhist Philosophy (Eastern Book Linkers, Delhi, 1998) and several research papers published in leading academic journals in India.

Bandana Bhattacharya Mukhopadhyay, PhD, the Research Officer at the Asiatic Society (Calcutta) and Guest lecturer in Tibetan Language at Calcutta University, has published numerous research papers in the leading academic journals in India and abroad; her latest book being Life in Ancient India (as depicted in the Dhamma- pada-Atthakatha).

Acarya Sangye T. Naga heads the department of language and literature at the Library of Tibetan Works & Archives (LTWA), Dharamsala. He is the author, co- author, translator and co-translator of several LTWA publications. His research on Tibetan traditional grammar will soon be published by the LTWA.

Suniti Kumar Pathak, the research professor at Asiatic Society (Calcutta), is a renowned scholar in Buddhist and Tibetan studies in India and is the author of numerous publications, including a Tibetan translation of selected poems of Rabindranath Tagor, sNyan ngag bsdus pa, 1961, and The Nitisastras in Tibet, 1974.

Thupten K. Rikey is the current Managing Editor of Tibet Journal and the Head of Research & Translation Department, LTWA.

Nawang Tsering Shakspo, the head of the Leh branch Academy of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language, has graduated from Benaras Hindu University in Ancient Indian History and Archaeology. He is the editor of four serial publications in Ladakhi and Tibetan (Sheeraza/Shes-rab-zom, Lo-akhor-gyi- deb, Folk Songs of Ladakh and Folk Tales of Ladakh) and is the author An Insight into Ladakh.

Riika Virtanen has been studying Tibetan language and culture at the LTWA, Dharamsala, since 1990. She takes special interest in Tibetan literature and poetry and has translated into English a collection of stories by modern Tibetan writers (forthcoming from LTWA).
