Matthew Akester is an independent and itinerant researcher in Tibetan studies. He is trying to compile a modern commentary on Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo's Guide to the holy places of central Tibet (dBus gtsang gnas yig)

Claude Arpi is the author of the Fate of Tibet: when big insects eat small insect (HarAnand, 1999). He is with the Pavilion of Tibetan Culture, an ongoing project at the Auroville, India, designed to host inetraction between Tibetan culture and the rest of the world.

Wolfgang Bertsch, a scholar of Tibetan studies in Germany, has been doing research on Tibetan coins and paper money since 1974 and has published several articles on this subject in different journals including the Tibet Journal; his latest publication being A Study of Tibetan Paper Money with a Critical Bibliography, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA), 1997.

D. R. Chaudhry is a well-known columnist and reviewer in the Indian media world. He is at present a Reader at the Dyal Singh College of Delhi University. He has published several articles and over 100 reviews and review articles in the leading English national dailies, including Times of India and The Tribune. Also he has three books in his credit, the latest being "Punjab-Haryana Dispute" in Punjab --Past, Present and Future, Ajanta Publications, Delhi, 1994.

Harry Halen has been the Department Secretary at the Department of Asian and African Studies, University of Helsinki, since 1973. His fields of interest are Central Asian and Buddhist studies.

Mona Schrempf is a part-time lecturer in Religious Studies at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand. She received her PhD in Ethnology from the Free University in Berlin for a dissertation on contemporary religious revival in a Bonpo community in Amdo. She has researched and published various articles of Tibetan ritual dance. Her current research interests include women's participation in the cult of the Klu in Tibetan communities.

Riika Virtanen has been studying Tibetan language and culture at the LTWA, Dharamsala, since 1990. She takes special interest in Tibetan literature and poetry and has translated into English a collection of stories by modern Tibetan writers, A Blighted Flower and Other Stories: Portraits of Women in Modern Tibetan Literature, Library of Tibetan Works & Archives, Dharamsala, 2000.
